“I have been going to a Chiropractor for as long as I can remember. It is as important to my training as the practice of my swing”
Tiger Woods
Golfers of all levels and abilities the world over regularly go to see a Chiropractor... So why is that? There is more detail below, but in short it is because they want to play pain free and to the best of their ability.
Two common misconceptions about golf...
1 - Myth: Golf is a game of technical skill and not an athletic event. Truth: Amateur golfers achieve approximately 90% of their peak muscular activity when driving a golf ball. This is comparable to lifting a weight that could only be lifted 4 times before total fatigue. No wonder golfers are tired after 18 holes!

2 - Myth: An exercise program that focuses on strength will improve distance. Truth: To hit more powerful golf shots you need to increase club head speed and this comes with better posture and flexibility – Chiropractic care has been doing this for over 100 years.
What about the ‘average’ golfer? Most players take up the game at an age when he or she is no longer participating in physically demanding sports. This leads to reduced flexibility – especially of the spine, shoulders, hips and pelvis (key components of a good golf swing and a healthy body!). Furthermore, common modern day activities like sitting in front of the computer stiffen us up. It is important to be aware of these as flexibility is the key to improve your golf game, prevent injuries and reduce pain.
Common golf related injuries include: low back and neck, sciatica, trapped nerves, shoulder problems, golfer’s elbow and carpal tunnel syndrome. How can we help? Our Chiropractors completed a 5 year Masters Degree in England and have years of professional experience successfully treating all types of patients, including professional and amateur golfers. Chiropractors are highly trained in detecting and loosening stiff joints that ‘pinch’ nerves and cause aches/ pains.
